Last season, the Denver Nuggets missed the playoffs by one game. Now it is a new season, and the Denver Nuggets are looking to build off of last season. They are a very young team and this season they are expected to have a good one. The Denver Nuggets have a young superstar by the name of Nikola Jokic. The Nuggets are looking to build the team around him. Once Jokic entered into the starting lineup, the Nuggets had a better record last season. The Nuggets’ record was so good that they became the highest scoring offense in the NBA. With Jokic entering the starting lineup late, the Nuggets made a quick turnaround and was on track to make the playoffs. If Jokic was in the lineup earlier during the season, maybe the Nuggets would have made the playoffs and would have won those crucial games that they lost.
The Nuggets are using the same strategy as the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors drafted a bunch of young guys and over time developed them into great players. The Nuggets did the same thing by drafting young players such as Gary Harris, Jamal Murray, and Emmanuel Mudiay. These young players are already off to a great career in the NBA. Nikola Jokic is a player that is like Draymond Green because he was a player that everybody was sleeping on, because he was drafted in the second round of the NBA Draft. He exceeded all expectations of just being average and turned out to be the best player on the Denver Nuggets.
The Denver Nuggets organization is hoping to build these young players up so they are able to contend for a title in the future. Even though the Denver Nuggets are young, they did add a key veteran player that could help them compete for a title in the future. The one player they added was All-Star Paul Millsap who can help the process speed up in establishing a winning culture in Denver. The Denver Nuggets have big goals this season. They are hoping to make the playoffs this year and feel they could make some noise with their up tempo offense. The Denver Nuggets have an advantage of doing that because their players are so young. The Denver Nuggets have a good chance of upsetting some of the teams that are favored to have great seasons in the Western Conference.
